As we have previously mentioned, the anime adaptation of “Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End)” has become a trend on social networks with each of its new episodes. The most recent included a funny moment from Chapter 37 of the original manga where The group of Frieren, Fern and Stark travel by cart to the city of Auberst to take the magical exam.
Frieren, tired from the trip, decides to lie on Fern’s lap looking up at the sky. However, Fern’s breasts blocked his view of her, so she immediately changes her mind and mentions: “I could only see half of the sky».
In the original manga it is not very clear that Fern’s breasts blocked Frieren’s view, but in the anime adaptation directed by Keiichiro Saito and produced by madhouse it can be clearly noted that The decision was made to increase the size of Fern’s breasts to give more meaning to this scene.
Previously in this same adaptation, the topic of the large disparity in the size of Frieren and Fern’s breasts, despite the notable age difference, had only been addressed once. Frieren had already been curious about the fact that Fern’s breasts are noticeably large compared to hers, an elf over a thousand years old. Some even wonder if Frieren’s endless search for new spells is simply to find one that will give him a more feminine body.
While the “flat girl vs. busty girl” is common in comedy anime, it is not so common for a slice-of-life like “Sousou no Frieren”. This scene began to inspire some artists to recreate this same scene but with other characters from other franchises that meet the same characteristics. For example, Hitori Gotou and Ikuyo Kita of “Bocchi the Rock!“.
