Boku no Hero Academia puts All Might as a villain in its new movie


On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Kohei HorikoshiBoku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)”, a new promotional video was revealed for the fourth original film in the franchise. This new film will be titled “Boku no Hero Academia: The Movie – You Are Next” and is scheduled to premiere on next August 2 in theaters in Japan.

This new movie It will have a completely original story (i.e. non-canonical) written by the author Kohei Horikoshiwho also oversees the project and character design, while the plot It will take place in the same timeline as the anime’s seventh season.which will premiere on May 4 in Japan.

The press release writes:

  • A society devastated by battles between heroes and enemies (villains), and infested with Datsugoku, people who have escaped from the enemies’ imprisonment facilities. Just before the final battle between heroes like the protagonist Izuku Midoriya (Deku) and his enemies, a serious incident occurs that shakes the world. What does the title “You Are Next” mean?
  • The second visual teaser, which has already been released, shows a gigantic golden statue of All Might standing in the center of the image. With the slogan “Defy the Symbol of Peace,” the image shows the members of UA Academy’s Hero Class 1A – Deku, Katsuki Bakugou, Shoto Todoroki, Ochako Uraraka and Tenya Iida – and a man who looks exactly like him. to All Might, standing restlessly beyond their gaze. What will Deku and the others face in this movie? The visual effects are full of dynamism.
Boku no Hero Academia

For his part, Horikoshi began publishing the manga Boku no Hero Academia in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the publisher Shueisha in July 2014 and entered its last story arc in March 2021. The anime adaptation produced by the studios BONES has been ongoing since April 2016, inspiring a total of six seasons to date and a seventh already in production.

Production team

  • Tensai Okamura (Nanatsu no Taizai, Ao no Exorcist, Shin Seiki Evangelion, Soul Eater) is in charge of directing the feature film at the studios bones.
  • Yousuke Kuroda (Goblin Slayer, Gakuen Mokushiroku: HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD, BTOOOM!, MASHLE) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
  • Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Gakuen Mokushiroku: HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD, Mushishi, Kenpuu Denki Berserk) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
  • Yuuki Hayashi (Haikyuu!!, Death Parade, Blood Lad, Kiznaiver) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Boku no Hero Academia

The emergence of “Quirks,” newly discovered superpowers, has steadily increased over the years, with 80 percent of humanity possessing various abilities, from element manipulation to shapeshifting. This leaves the rest of the world completely powerless, and Izuku Midoriya is one of those individuals. Since he was a child, the ambitious high school student has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. Izuku’s unjust fate leaves him admiring heroes and taking notes on them whenever he can. But it seems that his persistence has borne some fruit: Izuku meets the number one hero and his personal idol, All Might. All Might’s Quirk is a unique ability that can be inherited, and he has chosen Izuku as his successor!

After enduring many months of grueling training, Izuku enrolls in UA Academy, a prestigious prep school famous for its excellent hero training program, and this year’s freshmen look especially promising. With his strange but talented classmates and the looming threat of an evil organization, Izuku will soon learn what it truly means to be a hero.
