The team “Super Peace Busters“, made up of the director Tatsuyuki Nagaithe screenwriter and director Mari Okadaand the artist Masayoshi Tanakaannounced the production of a new original film titled “Fureru“, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in the fall of 2024.
Both the video and the promotional image show the slogan: “We discover the secrets of the world, and it is a lot of pain…“, while the second shows three people holding a hedgehog-like creature in a bucket.
Also included was a comment from director Tatsuyuki Nagai:
- It’s been four years since the trilogy was completed “AnoHana: The Flower We Saw That Day“, “Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda. (The Anthem of the Heart)” and “Sora no Aosa wo Shiru Hito yo (Her Blue Sky)”. Together with Okada, who wrote the script, and Tanaka, who designed the characters, the desire to create another story became a reality, and here we are today.
- This time, the story takes place in Tokyo. It is the story of a boy who cannot communicate well with words, who meets a creature with mysterious powers, and the three become connected by this encounter. In animation, it is often in infancy or childhood that mysterious events occur, but this is a story of young people living with a mysterious creature and growing into adulthood. The focus is on people who would not normally be protagonists.
- Everyone experiences changes in their relationships between childhood and adulthood. When you’ve been with someone for a long time, you tend to think you understand them and say things about them, but I hope this movie makes people feel like they should express their feelings directly to the person they’re talking to. We are working hard on the film and look forward to the day when we can deliver it to you.
