In a joint statement from Kadokawa and the studies PAWORKSthe production of a new original anime titled “Mayonaka Punch (Midnight Punch)”, whose premiere is scheduled for the season of Summer-2024 (July-September). The announcement revealed the production team, but indicated few details about the plot.
Production team
- Shuu Honma (Paripi Koumei, Akiba Meido Sensou, Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara) is in charge of directing the anime at the studios PAWORKS.
- Hideaki Shirasaka (Paripi Koumei) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
- Ryouta Arima (Jigokuraku, Go-toubun no Hanayome ∬, Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku) is in charge of character design and animation direction, based on the original designs of Tsukasa Kotobuki (Kidou Senshi Gundam: THE ORIGIN, Saber Marionette J to X, Kaijin Kaihatsubu no Kuroitsu-san).
Mayonaka Punch Synopsis
The “girl comedy” anime focuses on “NewTubers” who stream on the world’s largest video-sharing site, “NewTube.” The two women in the image above are Masaki (below) and Ribu (above). The project will also include a manga and a novel adaptation. Tomomi Usui (Cube Arts) will launch the manga adaptation in Kadokawa’s Monthly Young Ace magazine in its April 2024 issue on March 4.
