In the universe of Jujutsu Kaisenarguably one of the best shonen series in publication, both the manga and anime have captivated fans with the ingenious plot of Gege Akutami about sorcerers and cursed spirits. Satoru Gojo, the most powerful sorcerer in the world, is a notable character, but even with his exceptional abilities, he could not defeat the King of Curses, Sukuna. Gojo’s shocking death left many manga fans perplexed, or could it be part of a clever hoax?
Despite being considered the strongest sorcerer, Gojo, for most of the battle, had the advantage over Sukuna. However, in a surprising twist, Sukuna managed to infuse cursed energy into a powerful attack, resulting in the splitting of Gojo’s body and his most significant defeat. Although it was an emotional journey for fans, an intriguing theory has emerged on Twitter, suggesting that Gojo’s defeat could have been part of an elaborate plan.
- «Gojo’s “defeat” could have been part of his plan: 1. Gojo is “defeated” in battle 2. Sukuna lets his guard down 3. Yuji and Higuruma enter the fight», writes the theory.
According to the theory, Gojo would have lost on purpose to surprise Sukuna. Sukuna’s increasing arrogance after defeating Satoru Gojo could be part of a clever plan by Gojo and other sorcerers to make Sukuna let his guard down.
In the most recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori and Hiromi Higuruma enter the battlefield with the intention of facing the King of Curses. Higuruma could hold the key to defeating Sukuna. Within his domain, he prohibits any acts of violence, and acts as a lawyer with the Shikigami as judge.
This makes the opponent guilty within the domain, and Higuruma uses his legal skills to prove guilt to the Shikigami. If guilt is proven, the Shikigami removes all of the culprit’s cursed energy, making it easier for Higuruma to defeat.
Gojo might have planned to harness this power from Higuruma’s domain to render Sukuna powerless within the domain. On the other hand, if Yuji finally awakens his Cursed Technique, it could be the key to saving Megumi. The theory suggests that Yuji’s Cursed Technique would allow her to control his will and increase his Cursed Energy by eating part of his soul.
If this fan theory turns out to be accurate, it would be a fascinating way to build toward the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, which is already in its home stretch. Furthermore, if Gojo had planned this in advance, he might even be alive.
