Shingeki no Kyojin will have an alternative ending from its fans

“AOT no Requiem”either “Attack on Titan: Requiem”a fan project, has recently gained prominence due to an exciting promotional video in which it is revealed that the animated version by Studio Eclypse is scheduled for release sometime in the fall of 2024. This project is a re-imagining of the final stretch of the story of “Shingeki no Kyojin” and features an alternative ending.

The initiative arises as an exploration of an alternative ending to the work of Hajime Isayama, specifically rewriting the last three controversial chapters of “Shingeki no Kyojin”. Based on the “Akatsuki no Requiem” fan theory, which was popular before the end of the original series, The project imagines an outcome in which Eren defeats the Alliance and annihilates all of humanity outside of Paradis..

The original theory is based on a performance of “Akatsuki no Requiem” by Linked Horizon, one of the closing songs of the anime’s third season, hence the name of the project. Although “Shingeki no Kyojin” concluded differently than theorized, the idea continued to be popular among certain segments of the fan community, leading to the creation of “AOT no Requiem.”

The project not only seeks to offer an alternative to the closure of “Attack on Titan” but also explore new narrative possibilities based on the appreciation of the Akatsuki no Requiem theory. The highly anticipated animated version promises to take viewers on a unique narrative path that differs significantly from the original canon:

  • «Damn, this really looks good».
  • «Although I prefer Hajime Isayama’s original ending, this looks spectacular».
  • «Thank you, seriously. We were criticized by everyone, we went through difficulties together, and now we are winning and getting what we deserve. I’m not interested in Shingeki no Kyojin, I just want the original ending».
  • «This makes me feel sorry for others, especially if Hajime Isayama somehow sees this. It’s a shame that talented people are wasting their time on this shitty project that is a complete disrespect to Isayama’s work.».
  • «All that talent wasted on adapting the shittiest material possible».
  • «Honestly, no matter what you think of Attack on Titan: Requiem, you have to respect that such a work will now even be animated. They should be praised for coming this far with something like this. I respect the creative team, in fact, they take criticism quite well».
  • «Ironically, I think Hajime Isayama would have enjoyed this kind of ending».
  • «They’ve been promoting this for the past two years, and MAPPA has already finished adapting the manga».
