On August 8, 2022, Chapter 362 of the manga was published in Japan Boku no Hero Academiacausing shock to the community of Internet users around the world after the apparent death of Katsuki Bakugoone of the most popular characters in the entire franchise.
In this chapter, with his entire body aching and in searing pain, Bakugo realizes that this is the path Deku has been walking all this time. After receiving a devastating attack from Tomura, Bakugo witnesses a white void where it is revealed that he always wanted All Might to sign his card. The scene then changes to show that Bakugo’s heart literally “exploded” when he was punched in the chest, despite the rest of the Heroes’ attempts to help and heal him.
While for fans this represented the death of Katsuki Bakugo, other Boku no Hero Academia fans saw their hopes revived just a few weeks later. In Chapter 364 it was revealed that Edgeshot would do everything possible to heal Bakugo’s heart, but that he could die in this attempt. Then he becomes as thin as a fiber, determined to “become Bakugo’s heart.”
And so more than a year passed until fans finally witnessed the return of Katsuki Bakugo in the leaks of the next chapter of Boku no Hero Academia. In these leaks and at the close of the chapter, Bakugo is finally shown standing before the surprising gaze of Deku and possibly all the spectators.
Although Bakugo’s return is not exactly a surprise (really few authors dare to end the lives of their main characters), The news immediately became a trend. on social media, inspiring a variety of comments such as:

- «I’ve never been happier in my entire miserable life.».
- «If Bakugo could do it, then Gojo could also come back from the dead in the future».
