Followers of the manga written and illustrated by Ferris Wheel Sakurai, The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu), know that the relationship between Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada is the central aspect of the story. Virtually every event in the manga revolves around their interactions, but the recent chapter finally showed the most anticipated moment for fans.
At first, Yamada symbolizes everything Ichikawa dislikes about society and school life, as she is a popular beauty who, at first glance, seems to have everything in her life. Jealous of her outgoing attitude, which Ichikawa interprets as her constant contempt for others, he states that she is “the girl he wants to kill the most.”
Later on, though Ichikawa soon realizes that he has unique opportunities to bond with Yamada, his low self-esteem and still-negative personality mean he often dismisses her signals that she has feelings for him as well. His feelings only grow over time, causing him internal conflicts because he doesn’t think he “deserves” her.
Ultimately, however, Yamada is the main catalyst for positive change in Ichikawa’s life, and a major influence even beyond being a love interest. Later, Yamada confesses to Ichikawa and they start dating around Chapter 113 of the manga. In that same chapter, both were going to give each other their first kiss, but this was postponed because they were too embarrassed.
Since then, the two have had a variety of kissing opportunities, but never got around to it. This all changed with the recently released Chapter 127, where the two unexpectedly kissed on the last page. Unfortunately the chapter has not been translated even by fans at the time of writing this article, but we can conclude that Anna kissed him because Kyotaro’s sister finally sang the song inspired by the words Kyotaro described in his love confession.
Anyway, it took seven months for the fans to finally see a kiss between the two protagonists. (the confession chapter was published in January of this year), but it was a rather welcome surprise, as the comments showed:
