On April 28, the Fairfax County Circuit Court, in Virginia, reported on the sentence handed down against Stefan Koza35 years old, former translator in charge of the manga written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen.
In July 2022, Koza was found guilty of eight counts of possession of child pornography. The court sentenced him to ten years in prison for each of the eight charges, which he must serve simultaneously (ie a total of ten years, not eighty). However, he was also granted a partially suspended sentence, meaning a seven-year sentence for each of the charges is suspended for five years.
This means that during the five years of the suspended sentence, Koza will be on supervised probation, which will include mental health counselling. Koza will also need to undergo and complete sex offender treatment. In addition, you will not be allowed to use devices that have Internet access, and you will not be able to access cameras or visual recording devices. The former Jujutsu Kaisen translator will be required to pay all costs of the case and register with the Virginia state sex offender registry.
Koza will also have to continue serving the remaining three years of his jail term, but any time he has already spent in jail will be counted against those three years. A Fairfax County grand jury had returned all eight felony counts against Koza in December 2021. Each of the counts is for possession of child pornography, and each count is for a separate video. The case first went through the Fairfax County General District Court, and then moved to the Fairfax County Circuit Court for grand jury indictment.
