Through a press release, the platform Netflix published a new promotional video for the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki, Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre. The video confirms that this second season will be divided into two parts that will be released according to the following schedule in the global catalog of the platform:
- The Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga (Pickle Story Arc) – July 26, 2023.
- The Father VS Son Saga (Father vs. Son Combat Arc) – August 24, 2023.
It should be remembered that the first season of twelve episodes is already being distributed by Netflix globally since September 2021. For his part, Itagaki published the manga in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Champion from the publisher Akita Shoten between December 2005 and August 2012, with a total of thirty-seven compiled volumes published. The story of this adaptation is the third story arc of the original work and focuses on the final meeting between Baki and her father, Yuujirou.

Synopsis for Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre
After 18 years of fighting and pushing his body beyond its natural limits, Baki Hanma is almost ready to face his father Yuujirou in one last battle. Publicly challenging his father to a rematch for the “World’s Strongest” title, Baki sets out to train even more. He targets the few men said to have power comparable to Yuujirou’s, including the “Unchained” bounty hunter Olivia Biscuit and a revived prehistoric human named Pickle from the Mesozoic era. The demonic Yuujirou oversees the training of his son with growing anticipation. The “Ogre” sees Baki as little more than tasty food being marinated for him to devour.
However, Yuujirou lives in solitude on top of the mountain of strength. He longs for a fighter to rise up and prove himself a worthy opponent capable of challenging him. Despite seeing his son as pathetic, Yuujirou can’t help but hope that his son is the one to give him the thrill of equal combat that he has lived for so long. As Baki tries to understand the monstrous legacy of his father, Yuujirou comes to accept his true feelings for his son. The two Hanmas move towards their climactic fight to decide who really is the “world’s strongest”.
