On the official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of the manga written by aka akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, Oshi no Koit was announced that the broadcast of the eighth episode will be delayed by a week. According to the statement, the episode will be broadcast on June 7, while a compilation episode will be broadcast on May 31.
The statement does not specify the reasons why the series is delaying the broadcast of its next episode, and it is quite particular to put a compilation episode in a series announced for a transmission of a cour (that is, of only three months). Fans speculate that there are production issues, while others claim that it is simply a scheduling tactic so that Oshi no Ko ends up on par with other seasonal series (As it will only have eleven episodes, the production might not want Oshi no Ko to end too soon compared to other series).
Like every week, the animation director Kanna Hirayama shared a special illustration to celebrate the airing of a new episode. The visual of this seventh broadcast was led by Akane Kurokawa:
The series has been broadcast since April 12 in Japan and is confirmed with a total of eleven episodes, while the platform HIDIVE is in charge of its distribution in the West. For their part, Akasaka and Yokoyari began publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly Young Jump from the publisher Shueisha in April 2020. aka akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) writes it while Mengo Yokoyari (Kuzu no Honkai) illustrates this.
