Although it began as a good promise in the world of romantic comedies, the anime adaptation of “Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! (Dosanko Gal wa Namara Menkoi)” could not have gone more unnoticed during the season Winter-2024 (January-March). Although viewers tried to rescue her through the ecchi moments of the initial episodes, It seems that the story or the protagonists did not end up completely enchanting the audience.
The plot is quite interesting, if you are Japanese. It is about a gal girl who wants to maintain her style of skirt, high socks and other parts of a city girl wardrobe, in the cold environment of Hokkaido. Our protagonist Tsubasa Shiki moves there, who meets Minami Fuyuki, the main girl, and other girls who begin to fill the typical romantic comedy harem.
Unfortunately the story of “Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!” Not only did its anime adaptation fare poorly, but the manga itself lost a lot of fan support with its current development. Not very focused on romance, going from one place to another without any particular direction, Kai Ikada’s work has been suffering within the Shonen Jump Plus service despite the fact that it is about to celebrate five years in serialization.
Perhaps Kai Ikada is aware that the anime adaptation did not achieve the expected resultsprecisely because he shared a post on Twitter inviting those who saw the series to continue in the manga:
- «Thank you very much again to everyone who watched the anime. You can read what follows after the final episode in the middle of Volume 4 of the original manga. If you’re interested in what’s next or if you liked this story, give the manga a chance».
It is normal for authors to share this type of publication after the end of the adaptation of one of their mangas, but Japanese fans detected that the tone in which he wrote it, the words he used and other details definitely reveal that the author does not trust that a sequel will be produced. Will they be right?
- «When people involved in the production say things like “this will continue in the original manga,” rest assured there won’t be a second season.».
- «And isn’t this point where the good part of the story began?».
- «It’s over. Another story that will be discarded for not achieving the expected results».
- «I would have liked to see Shiki-kun’s confession in the anime».
- «It was the most interesting this season, so if there is a second season, I will definitely watch it».
- «Second season, please, please».
- «Seriously, it was one of the best anime of this season.».
- «It’s over, it was pretty fun. I would very much like to see a sequel».
- «The most interesting moments were just coming, so I hope there is a second season».
- «It’s rare that I watch a series the same day it airs, it was fun. I hope there is a second season soon».
