On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Iro Aida, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun), the production of a second season of the project was announced. The press release did not reveal production details or a scheduled release datebut included a promotional image to celebrate the announcement.
Additionally, it was also announced that the spin-off Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun (After-School Hanako-kun), which had only four short episodes released starting in October of this year, will have another four episodes that will premiere at some point in the Fall-2024 season (October-December) in Japan.
Aida began publishing the manga in the magazine Monthly G Fantasy from the publisher square enix in June 2014. The work inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by the studios Lercheunder the direction of Masaomi Andou and scripts written by Yasuhiro Nakanishireleased in Winter-2020 (January-March).

- Hiroshi Takaki (Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, Denki-Gai no Honya-san, Dokidoki! Precure, Go! Princess Precure) was in charge of composing the soundtrack.
Synopsis of Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
The famous “Seven Wonders” that every school seems to have are a staple of Japanese urban legends. One of the best known is that of Hanako-san: the ghost of a girl who frequents the school bathrooms. Kamome Academy has its own version of the legend of Hanako-san. Rumors claim that if one manages to summon Hanako-san, she will grant her summoner any wish. Attracted by gossip, many have tried to invoke her, but all attempts have failed.
However, when Nene Yashiro, a girl with romantic hopes, dares to summon Hanako-san, she discovers that the rumored “girl” is actually a boy! After a series of unfortunate events related to Nene’s romantic desires, she is involuntarily involved in the world of the supernatural, becoming Hanako-kun’s assistant. She soon learns of Hanako-kun’s lesser-known duty: maintaining the fragile balance between mortals and apparitions.
