Japan launches rag dating service

Social networks in Japan were quite surprised when Vent Huge, a company that operates crossdressing beauty salons (that is, for men who want to dress as women or vice versa), announced the launch of a new dating app for those who want to date a crossdresser (also known as “trapitos” in Latin America). The most curious thing, however, is that this application is called “Jojo (ジョジョ)“, just like the popular shonen franchise.

Rags

As a dating app, “Jojo (ジョジョ)” offers the possibility for men and women to relate with the objective of respecting each other’s interests and tastes to understand each other in depth.such as “being able to respect each other’s individuality and hobbies,” “being able to talk about fashion, makeup and beauty,” and “being able to spend time as oneself in peace,” the site explains.

In Japan, “Josou Danshi (女装男子)” is a term for men who wear makeup, dress in feminine clothing, and enjoy fashion and beauty. Today, society’s view of these people has changed, so the feeling of rejection has decreased and more and more men with these characteristics feel confident about showing themselves to the public. However, both this term and “Otokonoko (男の娘)” refer to any man who dresses as a woman, but rather those who look spectacular while doing so. The level of dedication that these subjects put into their outfits and makeup is worthy of admiration even for the women themselves.

It should be noted that the fact of being a “trapito” is not linked to homosexuality, that is, you do not have to be gay to enjoy dressing as women. Many androgynous men (that is, it is difficult to determine at first glance whether they are men or women) keep their “crossdresser identity” a secret, even when they are already in a relationship. In fact, the site claims that many of these men are looking for an understanding girlfriend who understands crossdressing culture and is willing to support them.

According to the site’s description, women themselves also look for men who understand and sympathize with their gender-specific concerns and problems, and who can enjoy their hobbies such as fashion and makeup with them. So, if you thought “Jojo (ジョジョ)” was a service for men to find dates in rags, you were wrong. In fact, it is the rags who are looking for an understanding girlfriend through this application in Japan.

With this it has become clear that being a crossdresser does not necessarily make you homosexual (something that would fall into the same idea that “dancing ballet doesn’t make you a girl”), But, if as a man you are attracted to clothes, then are you gay? That is, in fact, a question that has generated debate on social networks in recent years.

And of course, this new application did not go without opinions:

  • «Looks like this has become JoJo’s Erotic Adventures».
  • «Hmm, I was more interested in a dating app between a man and a crossdresser man, will anyone come up with that in the future?».
  • «Well it seems that now to get a girlfriend you have to become a woman, we are certainly regressing».
  • «I refuse to be attracted to a boy dressed as a woman, I always try to convince myself».
  • «Many times the best woman I have seen on social media turns out to be a man, I think masculinity is something of the past».
  • «There are so many backstabbing, money-seeking women these days that it’s best to get yourself a femboy girlfriend.».
  • «Nobody understands a man better than another man, or am I wrong? Why do women look for a female boyfriend then?».
