Sousou no Frieren stars in a new viral meme

Definitely, Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) is one of the most popular series of the season Fall-2023 (October-December), and possibly the year. This is not only evident with the fact that the series becomes a trend with each new episode, but the protagonist herself Frieren has been the center of a new variety of memes that emerge weekly.

One of the most recent is titled “You Can Just Give This Kind of Thing to Men and They Will Be Thrilled (If you give them these kinds of things, men will be very happy)”, which includes two images taken from Episode 12 of the series. In the memes that have emerged from these two frames, fans have changed what Frieren is holding in his hand to alter the context.

At one point in the episode, Fern tells Frieren that Stark is turning 18 and asks him what he is going to give him. Frieren takes a potion out of a chest and explains that it will dissolve a person’s clothing if poured on them, saying: “If you give them these kinds of things, men will be very happy“. Fern takes the potion and pours it over Frieren, dissolving his clothes. That same day, the scene became a trend on social networks, and eventually memes began to emerge, changing the context of it.

Synopsis of Sousou no Frieren

The Demon King has been defeated, and the victorious group of heroes has returned to their respective homes after disbanding. The four—the mage Frieren, the hero Himmel, the priest Heiter, and the warrior Eisen—remember their decade-long journey when it comes time to say goodbye. But the passage of time is different for elves, so Frieren witnesses how her beloved companions slowly die.

Before his death, Heiter manages to force upon the sorceress a young human apprentice named Fern. Driven by the elf’s passion for collecting a wealth of magical spells, the pair embark on a seemingly aimless journey, revisiting places the heroes of old had visited. Throughout his travels, Frieren slowly comes to grips with his regret for the missed opportunities to form deeper bonds with his now-deceased comrades.
