The most recent episode of Jujutsu Kaisen was not finished

The renowned Italian entertainer Enrico Nobili has once again shed light on the difficult working conditions in studios MAPPA during the production of the second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen“. Even though some of the animator’s posts have been deleted, the screenshots persist, reflecting the critical situation in the studywhich barely survives thanks to the animators’ commitment to almost impossible work schedules.

In one of the posts, Nobili revealed that the seventeenth episode of the second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” was not finished when it aired on television this weekexpressing his wish that staff had had more time to complete it. He stated that what was shown on screen represented only 30 percent of the final product and expressed frustration at the errors present in the episode.

This announcement surprised Japanese fans and Internet users, who are no longer surprised by the complaints of animators on social networks, evidencing a deep-rooted culture of labor exploitation in Japan. The situation has led to incomplete work being delivered, generating uncertainty about the fate of the second season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” and its animators for the rest of the year.

The peculiarity of a culture stands out where labor complaints on social networks are common, but formal resistance or measures such as strikes are rare. The apparent resignation of Japanese Internet users in the face of these complaints raises questions about possible changes in the industry and the protection of animators’ labor rights. The discussion among fans extends globally, raising the need to address these systemic issues.

  • «Everyone should know about this. A company that prefers to release an episode without finishing production instead of bowing its head and asking the production companies for more time».
  • «I assumed that it was evident that it was not finished, it seemed somewhat crude and without details in several segments».
  • «Don’t worry, MAPPA will surely release a compilation movie where you can see the finished scenes, or perhaps sell them to you at a premium on the Blu-ray/DVD».
  • «If you keep applauding unfinished products, nothing will change».
  • «There is too much inconsistency in the battle scenes. I would like animators to have more time to deliver the product they are satisfied with.».
  • «Imagine how upset you must feel after watching MAPPA and Jujutsu Kaisen applauders praise an episode that you, the chief animator, consider incomplete.».
  • «Criticism is acceptable. Broadcasting an unfinished episode is an indication that the company will do anything to meet the schedule, and has no intention of giving workers a break.».
  • «After all, it was unfinished! I realized instantly by paying attention to some scenes».
  • «Now imagine if MAPPA had a second season of Chainsaw Man on their schedule, it would be impossible to keep working! Well, I hope the committee realizes this and sends their favorite dog, i.e. Chainsaw Man, to another studio».
  • «Why is the animation going down compared to previous works? Generally it should be better, as is the case with Kimetsu no Yaiba».
  • «The idiots said that “bad drawings and designs” are to simulate the effect of rapid movement. I hope that now that the animation director confirmed that the episode was really incomplete these morons will finally shut up».
