A press release officially confirmed that the manga written and illustrated by Ema Toyama, Vampire Dormitorywill have an anime adaptation that will premiere in 2024 and that will be produced by Studio Blanc. The statement revealed production details, but did not indicate the voice actors for this project.

For his part, Toyama began publishing the manga through the magazine Nakayoshi from the publisher Kodansha in November 2018. After its first part ended in July 2022, the work went into suspension until its second part began in December of the same year. The author has written other works such as “Watashi ni xx Shinasai!“, “Koko nor Iru yo!“, and “GDGD-DOGS“, but none had gotten an anime adaptation to date.
Production team
- Nobuyoshi Nagayama (Boku no Kanojo ga Majime Sugiru Shoujo Bitch na Ken, Runway de Waratte, Sounan desu ka?, Saikyou Onmyouji no Isekai Tenseiki) is in charge of directing the anime in Studio Blanc.
- Touko Machida (Akame ga Kill!, Hataraku Maou-sama!, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru, Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei – The Animation) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
- Naomi Tsuruta (Jujutsu Kaisen, SPY x FAMILY, Chainsaw Man, Boku no Hero Academia 6th Season) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
Synopsis of Vampire Dormitory
Mito Yamamoto is a handsome man, so much so that women swarm the restaurant where he works every day. When the restaurant owner decides he’s had enough, he fires Mito, leaving him unemployed and without a place to call home.
Shortly after, Mito finds herself in a cafeteria and cuts her hand on a broken glass. A strange man named Ruka Saotome takes Mito aside to supposedly heal her wound, but instead he licks her blood and tells her that he tastes disgusting before asking her to leave. Later that night, Mito accidentally slips from the roof of a building and is caught by Ruka, who reveals herself to be a vampire.
Ruka explains that a man’s blood tastes disgusting, and that the blood of someone you don’t love tastes even worse. However, Ruka can’t drink from girls, so she has been looking for a handsome boy to become her slave. She proposes that Mito play that role and allow Ruka’s affection to “ripe” her blood. Mito accepts and begins living with Ruka in the Hijirigaoka Boys’ Academy dormitory. However, there’s only one problem in all of this: Mito is actually a girl!
