Viral loli song gets an artist in trouble

Popular Japanese actor and singer Daisuke Yokoyamawho has been active since 2006 as part of the eleventh generation of talents of the program “Okaasan to Issho” of the NHKshared an update via his personal blog this morning. There, the actor apologized for a controversial video uploaded to TikTok, and announced that he would delete his account immediately.

Yokoyama had posted a video on TikTok doing the “Shukusei!! Loli Kami Requiem ☆“, a song by VTuber “Ui Shigure” which has become extremely popular even outside of Japan, especially for the character’s catchy choreography and for the lyrics, which express repulsion towards loli fans. In his message, Yokoyama accepted criticism that the song talks about sensitive topics such as pedophilia, and noted that his video received a lot of criticism since its publication.

  • The video is no longer available, the following is just a preview image:

The artist explained: «I’ve received a lot of comments about the music I used in a TikTok video. This time, without understanding the lyrics or the background of the song, I imitated the dance and published it just because it was trendy. I am very sorry for having deeply hurt the people who support me and for having made many people feel uncomfortable.».

And continued: “I take your comments very seriously and will work to ensure this does not happen again. In the future, I will also carefully examine my contents, understand them, and pass them on to you responsibly.».

He later updated his personal blog again, reporting the deletion of his TikTok account following the controversy: “I have taken your comments seriously and will proceed to delete my TikTok account. I cannot reflect on how inconsiderate and superficial I was in my position. I’m sorry for betraying everyone so deeply.».

In the song, Ui Shigure sings about “divine purification” against those who are interested in lolismocking them with lyrics like “if you touch me you will be arrested” and “I don’t ever want someone like you to like me“. In the music video, the VTuber zaps dirt spots depicting brooding guys with literal lightning bolts. Divine purification!
