Could Fullmetal Alchemist return one day?

The franchise of Fullmetal Alchemistcreated by Hiromu Arakawa, is one of the most popular in anime. The story of the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, has captivated millions of fans around the world.

Fullmetal Alchemist

So far, the franchise has had two anime adaptations: Fullmetal Alchemist2003, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhoodfrom 2009. The first adaptation was produced by the studios boneswhile the second was produced by Aniplex and Studio Pierrot.

The first adaptation was a commercial success, but received criticism for deviating from the original manga story. The second adaptation, on the other hand, was a faithful adaptation of the manga, and is considered by many to be one of the best anime series of all time.

In recent years, there has been speculation about the possibility of a new anime adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist. However, according to sources close to the franchise, this is very unlikely to happen. The main reason is that the second adaptation has already completely adapted the original work. The Fullmetal Alchemist manga ended in 2010, and the Brotherhood adaptation was based on the full story of the work.

Another reason is that the franchise has already had a large number of adaptations to other media, such as video games, films, and novels. A new anime adaptation would be redundant, since the story has already been told in other formats.

Furthermore, the popularity of the franchise has not diminished in recent years. The series remains very popular around the world, and its manga and anime sales remain high.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that a new Fullmetal Alchemist anime adaptation could happen in the future, especially on some kind of anniversary. However, at the moment, it is highly unlikely.
