This article includes spoilers for the “Jujutsu Kaisen” manga. Viewer discretion is advised.
Like every midweek, the leaks of the Weekly Shonen Jump They didn’t take long to wait, especially those of the next chapter of the popular manga Jujutsu Kaisen. While fans hoped to continue watching the current story arc unfold, they went completely cold when this chapter showed Gojo’s presumed death.
In the previous chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, the battle had been completely tilted in favor of Satoru Gojo, so the surprise was more than impressive. The leaked chapter begins with Gojo having a kind of illusion where he meets Suguru Geto again. Gojo comments that his death will have consequences eventually, while he confesses that he could have beaten Sukuna if he hadn’t had Megumi’s techniques at his disposal, and that, in fact, he didn’t even use her full strength.
Gojo then laments that while he gave his all in this fight against Sukuna, the so-called King of Curses didn’t even give his all, so he couldn’t enjoy the fight as much as he did. This leads to the arrival of Kento Nanami, who expresses his sympathy for him. Thus, Satoru Gojo says goodbye to Geto, Yaga, Nanami, Haibara, Riko and Kuroi, and later goes to see the limp body cut in half of Gojo lying on the ground, presumably dead.
While Satoru Gojo’s death was an element that fans already sensed Gege Akutami would use at some point, the surprise of seeing him die after “apparently seeing him win” in battle was definitely met with complete bitterness. Multiple keywords such as “#JJK236” (the hashtag used to share the spoilers of the next chapter), Gojo and Gege became a global trend due to recent events. The news even spread among the Japanese with the hashtag “#呪術のネタバレ (Jujutsu’s Spoilers)”, who are not used to this manga leaks.
- «I was shocked after seeing Gojo. I was in denial. It was when I saw Yuji, Yuta and Maki’s faces that I started to realize. Ohhh man it really hurts».
- «Gojo died and will be sealed soon in the anime. Everything was coldly calculated by fate».
- «Gege Akutami sealed Gojo away for three years, then brought him back for five months, and finally killed him. I can’t believe it!».
- «We certainly expected Satoru Gojo to die eventually, but this is probably the worst possible conclusion».
- «I wake up, open Twitter, and see that Gojo was killed. I’m going to try to close my eyes and assume I’m just still dreaming».
- «It’s happened once and it could happen again. I’m sure Satoru Gojo will return».
- «Satoru Gojo fans are finally finished. You won’t see Gojo again for about seven years in the anime, and probably never again in the manga.».
- «I need Gojo back Gege, please tell me I’m dreaming!».
- «They will probably revive Gojo in the next chapter, what a bunch of authors without balls to kill a relevant character».
- «Satoru Gojo died so that the BTS members could renew their contracts. A sacrifice that I am willing to accept».
- «Gege Akutami wrote Gojo’s story and context terribly. In the end there is no one left to stand up to Sukuna. Bad ending in a shonen story? That would be something really innovative to see.».
- «It’s creepily adorable how much respect Sukuna has for Gojo, even after defeating him. The fact that he says how good he is is enough to show what a good rival he has always been.».
- «Now that we know Gojo is finally dead, can we finally accept that Sukuna is infinitely superior to him? Or will they continue in denial?».
