Exactly a year ago a sequel project was announced for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda, Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling), however, there has been no update since then. In fact, it is not even known for sure if this sequel will be a second season, since it could be a movie or even a series of OVAs.
While there wasn’t enough content for a second season when the sequel was announced, there is now. However, Shinichi Fukuda has encouraged the publication of new updates to the manga because the current story arc requires longer and more detailed chapters, which is possibly influencing the production of the anime in some way.
Being a CloverWorks and Aniplex production, the recent Aniplex Online Fest 2023 event was the closest opportunity fans had to get new news about the anime sequel project. Unfortunately, it seems that we will probably have to wait until next year, specifically for AnimeJapan 2024 in March, to see if the production committee finally deigns to reveal more details.
The anime adaptation premiered in Winter-2022 (January-March) and had a total of twelve episodes, while the platforms Crunchyroll and Funimation They are responsible for its distribution in the West, also with a dubbing into Latin Spanish. For its part, Shinichi Fukuda publish the manga in the magazine Young Gangan from the publisher square enix since January 2018. A sequel project for the anime adaptation is in production.
