Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san would already be close to finishing

The description of the seventeenth compiled volume of the manga written and illustrated by Nanashi, Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san (Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro), confirmed that the story has reached (or at least is quite close to) its climax. Let us remember that, according to the theory in the construction of a manga work, the climax precedes the last story arcand it is generally said that “When a manga reaches its climax, it has little publication time left“.

In the description, the author wrote: «After training camp and some mixed swims, the two confirm their goals with each other. In their last free time, they finally go on a serious date much to Nagatoro’s joy. The appearance of a new rival, Machida, is threatening Senpai. The judo championship and the art academy! As the practice exam approaches, the story reaches its climax!».

Of course, the news was received with regret by readers, who expressed comments such as:

  • «The climax does not necessarily refer to the end, although watching the most recent chapters it is evident that it does.».
  • «Who are we to say that there won’t be a second part of this manga?».
  • «I already saw this announcement coming, I like that the author is certain that when they both become a couple there will be nothing more to write».
  • «I love this manga, but I really hope it doesn’t end the moment they both start being a couple. I want to see them go to college, get married and have kids.».
  • «The manga has been going perfectly in the most recent chapters, it was quite clear that the work was already in its last part».
  • «Well, both Takagi-san and Nagatoro-san are in their final stretch of the plot. The only thing left now is Uzaki-chan, and the endless Komi-san, I guess».
  • «Finally, let’s hope Nanashi returns to porn soon, because writing stories is not his thing».
  • «There’s no way this will come to a conclusion after the confession and the kiss, right? I hope the author doesn’t resort to the typical pathetic romantic comedy ending».

On the other hand, Nanashi has published the manga through the Magazine Pocket service of the publisher Kodansha since November 2017. An anime adaptation produced by Telecom Animation Film studios was broadcast during the Spring-2021 season (April-June) in Japan. , followed by a second season produced by OLM studios and released in the Winter-2023 season (January-March). So far there is no indication of a sequel.

Synopsis of Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san

High school student Hayase Nagatoro loves to spend her free time doing one thing, and that’s annoying her Senpai! After Nagatoro and her friends come across the aspiring artist’s drawings, they enjoy teasing the shy Senpai mercilessly. Nagatoro decides to continue his cruel game and visits him daily so he can force Senpai to do whatever interests him at the moment, especially if it makes him uncomfortable. Mildly interested in Nagatoro and somewhat afraid of her, Senpai is constantly involved in her antics as his interests, hobbies, appearance, and even personality are used against him while she entertains herself at his expense. As time passes, Senpai realizes that he does not dislike Nagatoro’s presence, and the two develop an uneasy friendship as one patiently endures the other’s antics.
