Genshin Impact was close to being canceled


During the event Genshin Impact Fes 2023which took place in Shanghai in August this year, Liu Weithe president of myHoYothe developer and distributor of the popular video game “Genshin Impact“, offered a conference in which he shared revealing details about the initial challenges faced by the development team.

Wei began his speech by recalling the start of the project in 2017, when miHoYo was a small company. At the time, the team was young and lacked significant industry experience. Despite the initial difficulties, they decided to embark on the production of “Genshin Impact” with courage and passion.

However, the president admitted that the development became extremely complicated. In particular, he highlighted the lack of its own game engine and the inexperience in creating an open world. These obstacles led them to face very difficult times during the development process.

The turning point came in 2019 when they launched the closed testing phase of the game.
