Award-Winning Shoujo A Sign of Affection Will Get Anime


A press release revealed that the manga written and illustrated by Yuu Morishita, A Sign of Affection (Yubisaki to Renren), will be adapted into a television anime series. The statement revealed that the animation will be handled by studio Ajia-do, with an expected release date of January 2024. The main cast of the production was also announced.

Morishita began publishing the manga in the magazine Dessert from the publisher kodansha in July 2019. It has eight compiled volumes available so far, the ninth volume will be released on July 13, 2023.

Production team

  • Yuuta Murano (Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu, kakushigoto, Bokura no Nanokakan Sensu) is in charge of directing the anime in the studios Ajia-do.
  • Youko Yonaiyama (Skip to Loafer, Mahoutsukai no Yome S2, Uma Musume: Pretty Derby) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
  • kasumi sakai (Fairy Tail, Tiger & Bunny, Piano no Mori) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
  • Yukari Hashimoto (Toradora!, golden time, Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu.) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis for A Sign of Affection

Yuki Itose is a hearing-impaired college student whose world has been shrouded in silence since birth. She has lived in the same place her entire life and barely interacts with others, except for her best friend, Rin Fujishiro. One day, during her commute to her job, she meets the silver-haired, multilingual Itsuomi Nagi, a mutual friend of Rin’s. Unlike most of her, Itsuomi is unwavering when she finds out about Yuki’s disability. ; this, along with her experiences abroad, fascinates and moves her. After separating from her, her affection for him begins to grow. A new world begins to open up for Yuki and Itsuomi as they learn about each other’s different lives.
