Kanojo, Okarishimasu: They criticize that Kazuya continues without development

After nearly six years of serialization, Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent A Girlfriend) has experienced ups and downs along the way, though unfortunately there have been more ups and downs than highlights. In particular, Kazuya, the series’ protagonist, has come under fire from virtually everyone in the anime community, and with good reason. And what it has done recently is just one more stain on the tiger of disappointments that it has been building for more than half a decade.

In the recent chapter 287, Kazuya appears on the first few pages, holding his phone and consulting ChatGPI, an obvious version of ChatGPT: “What is the best way to build a relationship with a girl you like?». Although the artificial intelligence does its best to answer the question under normal circumstances, we all know that what Kazuya is experiencing is far from a normal situation.

The AI’s response is: “The first step would be to approach the girl you like. The way you approach will vary from person to person, but here are some tips to keep in mind». Even though the series is now almost 300 chapters long, it seems that Kazuya is still just as lost as he was in the first chapter, which is worrying, especially after the mangaka Reiji Miyajima mentioned in a recent interview that Kazuya’s character reflects part of himself.

Fans are already expressing their frustration and bewilderment at the lack of development of the main character after so many years of serializing the original manga. They find it ridiculous that Kazuya keeps running into the same issues and not showing significant growth. The recent controversy surrounding the manga even led some to tag Miyajima on Twitter, expressing their discontent with the direction the series has taken.

Despite the criticism and uncertainty surrounding Kazuya’s character, fans are looking forward to the anime’s return with its third season this summer. They hope that the anime adaptation will bring a new perspective and possible character development that has not been seen in the manga so far. With anticipation building, fans of Kanojo, Okarishimasu are eagerly awaiting to find out how the story will unfold and whether Kazuya will finally be able to overcome his emotional obstacles and show true personal growth.

As the season three premiere approaches, fans are clinging to the hope that Kazuya can finally find his way and show that he has learned from his past mistakes. Only time will tell if the anime will offer the development that fans are longing for and if Kazuya will be able to overcome his “pathetic” image that has haunted him throughout the series.
