Oricon officially reported that the theme song “idol“, interpreted by YOASOBIha surpassed 100 million views via streaming in just five weeks after its digital release on April 21. With these numbers, the popular opening theme of Oshi no Ko is now the fastest song to reach this figure in the history of the Oricon charts (dating back to 1999).
In its fifth week, the song recorded 25,632,534 views through streaming services, taking the top position on Oricon’s weekly chart. The cumulative number rose to 107,713,480, becoming YOASOBI’s 13th song to surpass 100 million streams.and YOASOBI becoming the artist/group with the most songs that have exceeded this number.
Through his official Twitter account, YOASOBI celebrated this record on Oricon with a message he wrote: ““Idol” has surpassed 100 million streams at the fastest rate in history. This song, created through a fateful encounter with the play Oshi no Ko, has shown us many new landscapes. Thank you with all my heart to everyone who participates and listens to this song. Thank you for your continued support». Meanwhile, the music video on YouTube is already about to reach 100 million viewsand the anime adaptation of Oshi no Ko continues to have excellent acceptance among fans.
Synopsis of Oshi no Ko
