The film critics of the Hollywood Creative Alliance awarded the Astra Award to the animated series “Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)” as the Best Animated Series in Streaming at this week’s awards ceremony. Despite a debated finale, the hit anime series was one of many honored for its achievements in the industry at the recent Astra Awards, being the first anime to achieve this decoration.
In the same event, Hayao Miyazaki was awarded the Astra Award for Best International Filmmaker. Furthermore, the film “Suzume no Tojimari” was nominated in the Best Animated Feature category, but lost to “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” from Sony Pictures. Regarding the victory of “Shingeki no Kyojin”, it is important to note that the other nominees included “Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)”; “Star Trek: Lower Decks“; “Animaniacs the Revival“; “harley quinn” and “Central Park“.
On the other hand, Hajime Isayama began the publication of the manga in the magazine Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from the publisher Kodansha in September 2009, concluding it in April 2021. During its publication, the work was compiled into a total of thirty-four volumes. The anime adaptation was produced by WIT STUDIO (seasons 1 and 2) and MAPPA (seasons 3 and 4), and aired between April 2013 and November 2023 (with corresponding breaks between seasons) in a total of ninety-four episodes.
Synopsis of Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season
Following Eren Yeager’s catastrophic actions, his friends and former enemies form an alliance against his genocidal acts. Armin Arlert, Mikasa Ackerman and the remaining members of the Survey Corps, once sworn enemies, join forces with Reiner Braun and the survivors of the Marleyan army. Their meager united front sets out on a mission to stop Eren’s wrath and, if possible, save his old comrade in the process. As Eren pushes forward at all costs, he fights his own inner turmoil.
Although he feels immense remorse for his horrible invasion, Eren believes he has noble intentions: he believes that the path forward is the only way to save his friends and, to a greater extent, his people. The opposing battalions spiral towards an inevitable final confrontation that could claim the lives of millions of people. Although they face an army of monsters beyond anything they could have imagined, Mikasa, Armin and their allies remain brave in the face of certain doom.
