Bocchi the Rock! and Sousou no Frieren come together in a viral video

A video by a fan has become a trend by mixing the anime franchises of “Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End)” and “Bocchi the Rock!“. The scene shows one of the first meetings between Frieren and Fern, where the latter is tasked with drilling a huge rock with only her magic, which will determine whether or not she is a suitable sorceress in the future.

Because of the play on words, “Roca” translates to “Rock” in English, perhaps the reason why it is the face of the Bocchi Rosada that has to be perforated in this edition. Titled “Fern Kills Bocchi“, the video soon accumulated hundreds of thousands of views, despite the low level of editing and the simple humor that seems to abound today in this type of editions.

Curiously, “Bocchi the Rock!” and “Sousou no Frieren” have more in common than you imagine. Both series, although produced by different animation studios, have Keiichirou Saitou in the director’s chair, whose genius gave a lot to talk about since the broadcast of the Bocchi Rosada story. The director knew how to turn a simple manga that had gone unnoticed for years into a successful anime adaptation that has two compilation films ahead of it, possibly due to the fact that they are waiting for the original manga to advance a little further in the meantime.

And it was clear that comments were not going to be lacking in a video of this type:

  • «I’m sorry to break your hopes Fern, but Bocchi has died many times before, and yet nothing has stopped her.».
  • «Oh yeah, Sousou no Frieren shitposting begins, I’ve really been waiting for this moment».
  • «I just realized from this video that Heiter was the one who taught Zoltrak to Fern, so the whole trip to learn how to fight demons was the priest’s idea».
  • «It’s really crazy when you think that little Fern is shooting Zoltrak at that young age, an advanced and newly created magic for humans.».
  • «Bocchi ended up tanking the attack, certainly a legend».
  • «This is definitely Japanese humor, unintelligible to me».
  • «Bocchi is literally the rock here. It makes me wonder what the different versions of Bocchi’s multiverse will be like.».
  • «The attack didn’t even hit Bocchi, but he died anyway».
  • «This is funny because both series share the same director».
