Fans disappointed with the collaboration between Zom 100 and Zombieland Saga

A new episode aired this weekend for the popular anime adaptation of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, although this was promised as “a big surprise.” It turns out that the production had announced that six members of Franchouchouthe idol group of the franchise zombie land sagathey would appear in this episode as guests. However, the collaboration was so disappointing that it became a trend.

It turns out that the cameo was not from the characters themselves, but simply the voice actresses made the grunts of some zombies. Yeah, that was all the collaboration. This took fans who were expecting, at the very least, that the characters themselves would appear on screen by surprise. Even the Japanese were surprised by this collaboration, as the production kept the details secret until the episode finished airing.

After it was revealed that the cameo only consisted of grunts from the voice actresses, the Japanese were quick to issue comments such as:

  • «Hey? So where are all the people from Zombieland Saga?».
  • «Well, I didn’t recognize any of Franchouchou’s voices, isn’t this a false advertisement?».
  • «They should have let the girls speak properly, or at least let us see their designs properly».
  • «And where the hell were they? What kind of joke is this?».
  • «Franchouchou’s characters were too ignored. It almost seems disrespectful to viewers to do this kind of antics».
  • «We all do not meet to see the girls of Franchouchou, what a joke on the part of the production».
  • «I didn’t recognize any of the growling. In fact, anyone could growl and the production say that she “was a popular voice actress.” What a stupid thing».
  • «Well, I think at the end there’s a short scene where Sakura appears, and she’s even pulling the same truck that ended her life.».

However, with this “collaboration” it seems that Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead knew how to make fans not turn to see another aspect that he highlighted in another episode. Since the second episode SHAFT studios had been collaborating to some degree in the production of new episodes, appearing listed in the credits along with BUG FILMS, the main studio. This no longer happened with the sixth episode, since SHAFT was no longer listed in the credits, which would indicate that they are no longer assisting in this adaptation.

Thus, the case of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is unique. BUG FILMS studios mocked OLM studios as “a horrible place to work”, only for BUG FILMS to end up with a lousy production schedule that is currently weighing on its own employees. The fact that SHAFT stopped getting their hands on them would indicate even more problems, since some suppose that if the series had not been suspended indefinitely to date, it was because of the support of this second studio. What will happen from now on with this project?

The series has been broadcast since July 9 in Japan and is confirmed with a total of twelve episodes, while the services crunchyroll, hulu and Netflix they take care of its distribution in the West. For his part, Haro Aso and Kotarō Takata they began publishing the manga through the magazine Sunday GX from the publisher shogakukan in October 2018.

This is the broadcast schedule of the next episodes, although it is still subject to change:

  • September 3: Episode 7.
  • September, 10th: Suspension.
  • September, 17th: Episode 8.
  • 24th September: Episode 9.
  • October 1 onwards: To confirm.
