It’s been almost two years since a Twitter user shared a short scene from the second season of “Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon (Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid)” on Twitter and wrote: «This scene alone demonstrates why anime is superior to Western animated series…». This scene shows when Ilulu and Kanna lick Riko Saikawa’s cheeks, causing her to blush and have one of her common “ecstasy attacks.”
This scene alone, is why anime is superior to western cartoons… https://t.co/ImKsL0AuQT pic.twitter.com/bvzYv2mESa

Because this post on Twitter became extremely popular, it even reached fans of animated series in the West (also known as “caricatures” or “cartoon”), who began to harshly criticize the anime industry. Obviously, considering the context of the scene that the user had shared, fans of the cartoon began to point out that the anime industry tends to be the center of attention more for controversies than anything else, especially scandals related to the lolicon.
- «So, to the cartoon fans who are mad at this tweet. Let me put this into perspective. This is the same shit they celebrate on this site, but when a Japanese anime does it, it’s suddenly “problematic”?».
Others went so far as to celebrate the arson attack on the studios Kyoto Animation in 2019, with comments like: «The guy who burned down Kyoto Animation was actually “based.” He tried to burn down a building full of pedophiles. a damn hero», because it was this studio that animated this anime adaptation of “Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon”.
This eventually became another one of those unfortunate episodes involving Twitter users.not only by fans of cartoonbut also by anime fans, who allowed themselves to be manipulated by the user of the original publication who only sought to obtain interactions by creating controversy:
- «Just admit that you like minors, there is therapy to cope with these things».
- «I wasn’t originally going to spend my time on this kind of debate, but you have to admit that animated series in the West tend to have some of the best animated scenes. Rob Scribner was the perfect animator and easily captured any movement he could think of.».
- «This idiot really thought that with a scene like that he could defend the anime industry. It is evident that he only wanted to create controversy to get likes, how fucking disgusting».
- «Look, I really love Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, but this Twitter post is shit».
- «While I love anime, I hate it when morons want to use it to gain interactions. No, a scene like that is useless.».
- «Of all the scenes he could have chosen, he chose this one.».
- «Instead of choosing some spectacular shonen battle scene, choose this to earn a few likes and spread more ground to an entire fandom».
- «So you just admitted that you’re an adult who enjoys watching anime with underage characters licking and sexualizing each other?».
- «Let this serve as a reminder to each and every one of my followers. Most of these cartoon fans are nothing more than a handful of teenagers and college kids who haven’t left high school. Don’t take them seriously. Don’t argue. Sit back and relax».
- «I hope this disgusting son of a bitch forever feels like he still has a few drops of pee left in his bladder after going to the bathroom.».
- «Dude, as much as I love anime, I also love cartoons. In fact, both cartoons and anime should be respected equally. After all, they are both cartoons.».
- «So many amazing scenes in Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon and this moron chooses this one».
- «I can’t believe I watched the entire season just to get to this scene.».
- «Happy anniversary to one of the worst posts in the entire history of Twitter».
